Job Description

You will be the "writer" who speaks Claude’s language, ensuring the AI behaves exactly as needed for business logic. As an AI Prompt Engineer & Evaluator, you are the "Interpreter" between human business needs and Claude’s cognitive capabilities. You don't just "write questions"; you architect complex instruction sets that utilize advanced reasoning techniques like Chain-of-Thought (CoT), Few-Shot learning, and XML-tagging to ensure structured and reliable outputs. Furthermore, you are responsible for the scientific validation of these prompts. You will build and manage "Golden Datasets" to run batch evaluations, ensuring that every update to the prompt or the model improves accuracy and stays within the strict safety and ethical boundaries defined by the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Prompt optimization, chain-of-thought engineering, and input sanitization.

  • Prompt Architecture Design: Developing and version-controlling production-grade system prompts that define Claude's persona, knowledge limits, and operational logic.

  • Scientific Evaluation: Building "LLM-as-a-judge" frameworks to automatically score AI responses for accuracy, tone, and compliance.

  • Hallucination Mitigation: Engineering negative constraints and verification steps within prompts to minimize false information.

  • Cross-Model Optimization: Tuning prompts to work efficiently across different Claude versions (e.g., optimizing for Haiku’s speed vs. Opus’s reasoning).

  • Safety Alignment: Implementing "System-level" guardrails to prevent the model from generating restricted content or sensitive data.

Key Activities:

A/B testing prompts, creating system instructions, and defining AI "persona" boundaries.

  • Instruction Engineering: Utilizing Anthropic-specific techniques like XML tag wrapping to help Claude distinguish between data and instructions.

  • Batch Testing: Running thousands of test cases through frameworks like Promptfoo or LangSmith to measure "Pass@1" rates and semantic similarity.

  • Output Structuring: Designing prompts that consistently return valid JSON or Tool-use schemas for integration with backend systems.

  • Error Analysis: Categorizing and analyzing model failures to iteratively refine the instructions and reduce edge-case errors.

  • Benchmark Creation: Curating a "Golden Dataset" of ideal human-verified responses to serve as the ground truth for all AI evaluations.

Academic Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering: A strong technical foundation with an emphasis on Linguistics or Cognitive Science.

  • Adversarial NLP (Natural Language Processing): Academic focus on how LLMs can be "attacked" through text, including jailbreaking, prompt injection, and virtual prompt attacks.

  • Constitutional AI Frameworks: Deep understanding of Anthropic’s "Constitutional AI" papers and the theoretical underpinnings of RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback).

  • Red-Teaming Methodologies: Mastery of structured testing protocols used to stress-test AI systems for safety violations and unexpected edge cases.

  • Logic and Formal Verification: Academic training in formal logic to write prompts that act as "code," ensuring outcomes are deterministic and follow strict property law rules.

  • AI Ethics & Fair Housing Act Knowledge: Specialized study in algorithmic fairness to prevent the AI from inadvertently "redlining" (discriminating based on location or demographics).

  • Taxonomy & Schema Design: Proficiency in using XML and JSON schemas within prompts to constrain AI outputs to safe, predictable data structures.

  • Automated Evaluation (LLM-as-a-Judge): Knowledge of academic frameworks (like G-Eval or Prometheus) to use one AI to grade the safety and accuracy of another.

  • Risk Assessment & Management: Training in calculating the "Probability of Failure" vs. "Impact of Failure" for automated financial advice agents.

  • Information Security Foundations: Understanding of the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs (e.g., Prompt Injection, Insecure Output Handling, Training Data Poisoning).

  • Chain-of-Thought (CoT) Verification: Ability to design "Internal Monologue" prompts where the AI checks its own reasoning for safety violations before displaying an answer.

  • Content Moderation Theory: Knowledge of the psychological and linguistic markers of harmful, deceptive, or high-risk content in professional transactions.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Exceptional English/Spanish syntax, logic skills, basic Python.

  • Linguistic Mastery: Exceptional precision in English and Spanish syntax and semantics.

  • Logical Reasoning: Strong background in formal logic, philosophy, or technical writing.

  • Technical Literacy: Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and running evaluation scripts.

  • Framework Knowledge: Deep experience with Anthropic’s prompt engineering guide and evaluation tools (e.g., Ragas, Giskard).

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to apply the scientific method to non-deterministic systems.

Work Experience:

2+ years in Content Strategy or Software Logic.

Daily Job Schedule:

The daily job schedule will follow the standard working hours of the company, typically from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, occasional flexibility may be required to meet project deadlines or collaborate with remote team members.
